UEFA Women’s Euro 2013 Play-offs
Scotland v Spain
Saturday 20 October 2012, kick-off 2 pm – FREE ENTRY
Hampden Park, Glasgow
The Scotland women’s squad joined The Tartan Specials at Glasgow’s CaVa Studios this week to record a new version of Tartan Army terrace anthem “We’ll Be Coming”.
The song was specially re-written by The Tartan Specials for the UEFA Women’s Euro play-offs, with Scotland taking on Spain at Hampden in the first leg tomorrow.
Carrie Mac, who will sing the national anthem at Hampden, also features on the new track, which was recorded at the same studios as BA Robertson and John Gordon Sinclair’s 1982 World Cup song We Have a Dream.
Scotland captain Gemma Fay said: “We had a great time in the studio. It’s exciting to be part of such a classic song. We hope it captures the imagination of supporters and shoots to the top of the iTunes chart!”
The Tartan Specials’ Kenny Young said: “We’re really pleased to support the girls before their match at Hampden on Saturday. The players were very enthusiastic, we got a really big sound going in the studio and I think it will sound really great in the stadium. There are a couple of secret singers in the squad. The 1982 World Cup Song was recorded in the same studios and I think they were definitely better singers than Danny McGrain and his team mates.”
Carrie Mac said: “I’m honoured to be signing the national anthem for the girls and I’m really looking forward to it. Recording the new version of We’ll Be Coming was a bit like a warm-up for Saturday. It was great to meet some of the players in the studio and wish them good luck before the match.”
The song is available to download from iTunes now – search for We’ll Be Coming (Tartan Army Girls).
